Poppy Day/ Armistice Day
Friday 11th November 2011
It is important that our children remember those who fought and sacrificed their lives in both World War 1 and 2 so we can have the freedoms we do today.
Therefore for the past few years we have held a Remembrance ceremony on Armistice Day.
This year it will be on Friday 11th November at 11 O’clock.
In addition to making donations for poppies you will also be able to make a donation towards red helium balloons which will be released on the day. This year these will be in a net and released after the 2 minute silence
All the money raised will go to the Royal British Legion.
Weather permitting we will hold our ceremony in the main playground just before 11.00. Our year six pupils have been studying World War 1 and 2 and will be leading this ceremony.
At 11.00 we will hold a whole school two minute silence
Please can you send in donations by Thursday 10th November 2011.
If you are available we would love you to come along, Please bear in mind that if it is raining we may have to hold this in the main hall and you may have to be prepared to be squeezed in where possible!
Thank you for your support
Yours sincerely
