Information for pupils in reception

9th September 2011

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

Here is some further information regarding your child’s start in reception:-

Extended day

Your child will be extending their school hours to a full day as from Wednesday 14th September. They will enter the building through the infant door which will be open from 8.45-9am. They will leave the building through their classroom door in the reception garden at 3.10pm. Please stand back away from the classroom door so that it is easier for the teachers to see all parents. Also please stand in the playground on the side of your child’s class which makes it easier for the teacher to see you before sending your child to you. If you did want to speak to the teacher about anything please let them dismiss the children first.

Lunchtime arrangements

As from Wednesday 14th September your child can stay for lunch and can have a packed lunch or school dinner. School dinners are now paid through ‘Parent Pay’. Please see the attached letter giving more information about this payment scheme. School dinners cost £2 per day. If you would like your child to go home for lunch then a note must be sent in to the class teacher.

Home dinner children will meet their parents at the infant door at 12.30pm

Bags/PE kits and snacks

Parsloes book bags or rucksacks are now needed for letters, work and books to be sent home in and can be purchased at the school office. Book bags are £5 and rucksacks are £8.50. Your child will have a snack provided by the school so there is no need to bring in anything of their own from home. Reception will not start PE till after the October half term so PE kits are not needed at the moment.

Cooking Money

Unfortunately we have had to raise the cooking money contribution in nursery and reception to £10. This money means that we can provide the ingredients to cook weekly. Therefore please bring the money in full as soon as possible or alternatively pay £5 now and then a further £5 after February half term. Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it and pass to a member of reception staff.

Mrs Riordan

Miss Morris works 4 days a week, therefore you will be seeing another face as the teacher in RMS on a Friday each week. The teachers name is Mrs Riordan and she has worked here part time for a number of years.

Parents Meeting

We have arranged a parent meeting for you to informally meet your child’s class teacher on Monday 12th September after school till 4pm. Please enter the school through the reception doors in the garden. This will be an opportunity for you to see the reception classrooms, meet the reception staff and to raise any questions that you may have. Mrs Fairweather and Mrs Parkin from the school office will also be there to answer any questions that you may have about ‘Parent Pay’ and will be there to help you to register online.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Hayley Durrant
