8th September 2014

Dear parents,

I hope you all had a good holiday; it was lovely to see so many of you last week and thank you very much for adhering the our school policy on uniform; in particular the change that governors  made to shoe colour; which is all shoes/trainers are to be plain black with no coloured motifs or laces.

            KEY INFORMATION:

1.                  Children from reception to year 4 only will come in Infant and Junior doors ( by Shortcrofts Road)

2.                  Children can use either of these entrance doors, it would be sensible for them to use the entrance door nearest their classroom.

3.                  Children in Years 5 & 6 only enter and exit through the new building entrance.

4.                  All these doors will be open from 8.45 to 9.00 each morning.

5.                  The school gates are opened at 8.35.

6.                  From 8.35 there will be staff on duty in the playground.

7.                  Year 1 pupils will be collected from the infant playground ( by the sail)

8.                  Year 2 pupils will be collected by the fence at the other end of the infant playground

9.                  Year 3 pupils will be collected from the football area in the Junior playground

10.              Year 4 pupils will be collected from the playground in front of the new building ( new this year)

11.              Year 5 & 6 pupils will be collected from the playground in front of the new building.

REMINDERS:

COLLECTING AT THE END OF THE DAY:

Please STAND BACK OPPOSITE where your child’s class comes out and do not stand in front of any of the exit doors. This is really important as my teachers need to get all the children out and handed over to you safely.

Also the outdoor space is used for PE lessons and therefore you will not be able to access either playgrounds before 3pm.

DINNER MONEY YEARS 3 to 6 only

Please remember to put money on your child’s parentpay account, school dinners are still £2.00. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Parkin.

We will be sending out timetables and information for each year group by the end of this week.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to myself or a member of staff.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. A. Lipski,

Head Teacher

Industrial Action 10th July 2014

Wednesday 2nd  July 2014

Dear Parents,

Industrial Action by the NUT teaching union and GMB Union

Thursday 10th July 2014

As you will have heard in the news, the NUT and the GMB unions have called on their members to take strike action, due to ongoing dispute over pensions, pay and conditions.

The majority of our teachers are in the NUT and the majority of our support staff (including kitchen staff) are in the GMB.

This is scheduled for Thursday 10th July 2014

For Industrial disputes we are not allowed to cover the roles of staff striking, so unfortunately the governors and I have had to make the decision to CLOSE the school to All pupils on that day.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause you and have endeavoured to provide you with enough notice as I possibly can.

This also affects the planned non-uniform day, which will now be on the 9th July, but due to other events going on in school that day, unfortunately on this occasion we  cannot hold the parade.

The school will be open to all pupils on Friday 11th July 2014.

Yours sincerely

Mrs A. Lipski

Head Teacher

HALF TERM UPDATE

10th June 2014

Dear parents,

HALF TERM UPDATE

UNIVERSAL INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEALS:

You may have already heard in the press and on television that from September 2014 all INFANT pupils will be receiving a Free School Lunch. Obviously for us this means catering for many more pupils than we currently are. We are therefore planning this term how to increase capacity in our school kitchen which was not built with this in mind. We will be writing to you shortly explaining final arrangements for September, so your patience with this is greatly appreciated.

NEW CURRICULUM:

Also in September 2014, a new National Curriculum is coming into place and we are busy preparing for this change too. We will be sending out more information towards the end of the term on this too! As part of this we are investing in a well-known international curriculum to ensure that children experience a broad and balance curriculum in school. This is called the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and we are starting this term with one of the units on the World Cup. More information on this will be given to your child this week.

SCHOOL WEBSITE:

We are also updating our school website this term and would really value any ideas you may have on what other information would be useful to be put on there. Please complete slip on the back of this letter with your suggestions and return to the school office.

This information and all our letters can be made available in other languages, please let us know if you require this.

Thank you again for your continued support this half term.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. A. Lipski,

Head Teacher

Industrial Action

Monday 17th March 2014

Dear Parents,

Industrial Action by the NUT teaching union

Wednesday 26th March 2014

As you will have heard in the news, the NUT teaching union has called on their members to
take strike action, over proposed changes to public sector workers pensions and terms and
           conditions of employment.

This is happening on Wednesday 26th March 2014

The majority of teaching staff at Parsloes are in this union and will be taking part in
this action.

Therefore I have no choice but to close their classes on that day.

Therefore only the following classes will be OPEN to pupils:

            In Reception   Class RW only

In Year 1         Class 1V and 1MR only

In Year 2         Class 2AF only

In Year 3         Class 3O and 3H

In Year 6         Class 6G only

All other classes will be closed to pupils on this day so PLEASE DO NOT send them
to school that day.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause many of you and have endeavoured
to provide you with enough notice as I possibly can.

All classes will re-open on Thursday 27th March 2014.

Yours sincerely

Parking

3rd March 2014

Dear parents,

PARKING

I am sorry that I have to bring this up again but I am frequently getting complaints about how some parents’ park and drive down Shortcrofts road. While I know this does not apply to the vast majority of parents, there are still a few parents who continue to park inconsiderately on this road.

We have had another complaint from residents about parents parking over their driveways. Please note that you CANNOT park on a dropped kerb, or stop on the zig zag lines.

The Local Authority are taking complaints about road safety around schools seriously and receiving more complaints could mean that parking on Shortcrofts Road could be even more restricted for parents.  They are also sending their Smart Car round, which could mean if you are parked illegally you could receive a parking ticket.

So in the interests of all please park considerately.

Could I also remind you that if you are dropping your child off, you must do this safely, which includes not blocking the road for other road users. If you need to ensure your child has gone in safely you should park correctly and walk your child in.

Thank you to the vast majority of you who do park considerately, as this means children can come to school safely.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. A. Lipski
