Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Tour with Blue Badge Guides

14 March 2011

Dear Parents
For years 3, 4, 5 & 6

During week beginning 28th March 2011

We have arranged a visit for children in years 3, 4 5 &6 to visit the Olympic Stadium in Stratford. The LA has approved this trip and full insurance details can be viewed at the school office.
Monday 28th March Year 4 pupils will be going

Tuesday 29th March Year 3 pupils will be going

Wednesday 30th March Year 5 pupils will be going

Thursday 31st March Year 6 pupils will be going
The trip is a Guided Tour with Blue Badge Tour Guides and will involve a visit to the ‘Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’ in Stratford (the main stadium for the 2012 Olympics). Here the children will be led to a panoramic vantage point, where they will be able to see the iconic stadia and arenas. Following this, the children will be taken to the Excel Centre where they will be able to see the planes taking off and landing at City Airport. Finally, the children will travel to the Thames Barrier Park where they will have lunch before returning to school.

The Blue Badge Tour Guides are very informative and will be able to give the children lots of information regarding the forthcoming Olympics.

The children will be travelling by coach, which are fitted with seatbelts. They will be supervised by teachers and classroom assistants.

All children need to bring a packed lunch. This should be in a plastic bag, with their name on it, so it can be thrown away once finished.
For the visit all children should wear full school uniform and sensible footwear. The children should not bring pocket money.

We intend to leave school by 9.00am in the morning so ensure your child is in school on time. We will be returning by 3.00pm so please collect your child at the usual time.
The cost of this trip has been subsidised by the school and therefore the cost to parents will be £5.00, which should be sent into school along with the attached permission slip.
If you have any further questions about the trip please do not hesitate to contact the class teachers or myself.
Thank you for your co-operation
Yours sincerely

Year 6 Reading/Homework Diary

14th February 2011

Dear Parents of Year 6 pupils,

Your child will be bringing home our new homework diary today.

This diary will not only prepare your child for the expectations of Secondary School but help you to support your child with their work in their final year in Primary school, especially in the build up to SATs in May.
We have also included some prompts to help you support your child in reading, writing and mathematics.

In order for this to work successfully there are a few ground rules and we would appreciate your support with:

1. This diary must be brought into school EVERY DAY

2. Parents must sign this book to say that the homework and reading has been completed.

3. There will be a charge to replace any diaries that are lost.

We will also be arranging a meeting regarding SATs next half term, so any questions you may have will be answered.

The tests will be starting on the 9th May for that week.

Yours Sincerely

Mrs. A. Lipski

Sponsored Read over half term

10th February 2011

Dear Parent/Guardian,

To encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school and to celebrate world book day, we will be running a school sponsored read between Monday 21st February 2011 and Sunday 27th February 2011 (half term).

All of the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money raised Usborne will donate up to 60% of the total in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So for every £600 raised we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books!

Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by helping your child spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read anything with words; comics, recipes, magazines, for as long or as little as they like.

Prizes:

The child that raises the most money for the school will win a new Amazon Kindle. The child from each year group that raises the most money will be given a free book of their choice.

Sponsorship:

Should you wish to support our sponsored read, please find enclosed a sponsorship form for your child. A reading log, to record the minutes they have spent reading, will be given to them in class.

After the sponsored read, please send all the sponsorship money your child has raised to the school by Wednesday 2nd March 2011.

Please support our sponsored read so that your child has more books to read, share and enjoy in school.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Richards and Miss Murray

CASHLESS SYSTEM for BOOKING SCHOOL DINNERS

26th January 2011
Dear parents

As I mentioned last term we will be moving to a cashless system for school meals, this will mean that this school will no longer be involved in taking money for school meals.
This system is being rolled out across borough schools and we will keep you informed and support you through this process.
This system will go live at Parsloes school on Thursday 10th March 2011. From this day onwards our school will no longer be accepting money for school meals. You will be able to put money on your child’s account which will automatically be deducted when they have a school meal.
We will give you all the relevant information on how you can do this nearer the time and our admin staff will be on hand to support and answer any queries you may have.
If your child receives a free school meal, their daily school allowance will be added automatically and you will not need to take any action.
We will send you your unique ParentPay Account activation details by letter soon
For further information on ParentPay please see the FAQs overleaf or visit www.parentpay.com
